William J. Zee and Jeffrey P. Ouellet presented on the topic of "Social Networking and Public Employees" in front of staff members of the Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 at the York Learning Center. The presentation discussed the use of social media in the hiring process, First Amendment employee and student protection while using social media during the work/school day and after hours, social media best practices, student use of electronic devices, concerns raised by the storage or transmission of inappropriate content, cyber bullying and cyber cheating, and search and seizure issues associated with the use of portable electronic devices in school, including issues associated with the Fourth Amendment and the Stored Communications Act." Mr. Zee is a member of the firm's Municipal and School Law practice group, and Mr. Ouellet is a member of the firm's Employment Law practice group.
