William J. Zee presented on the "Legal Considerations When Incorporating Electronic Communication Devices into the Curriculum" to technology professionals from the Bucks, Lancaster-Lebanon and Montgomery County intermediate units during the November 17, 2011 IU Virtual Technology Collaboration Day. Mr. Zee's presentation focused on various legal considerations in approaching a "bring your own" technology initiative, including issues related to student free expression, search and seizure of electronic devices, cyberbullying, sexting and academic misconduct. Mr. Zee is a member of the firm's Municipal and School Law practice group and regularly advises clients on a wide range of topics impacting educational entities.
William J. Zee provided a district-wide training program on "Bullying & Harassment" for staff members of the Mifflin County School District on November 10-11, 2011. The training focused on the responsibilities of school district personnel to investigate and respond to bullying and harassment, with a special focus on sexual harassment, sexual violence, cyberbullying and bullying of students with disabilities. Mr. Zee is a member of the firm's Municipal and School Law practice group.
